What is important to you when choosing a window contractor?

Are you interested in:
Low Price?
No two products or installation
methods are alike.

You must compare "apples" to "apples"
when comparison shopping. Low bids
often equate to poor product and/or
short cuts in installation quality.
Company Reputation?
How do they attract their business? Is it through telemarketers?
Or junk mail? Or newspaper ad gimmicks? Or is it through customer
referrals? The best form of advertising.

Product Quality?
What brand of windows and doors do they carry?
How long have they carried those brands?
Do they display them in their showroom?
Do they offer lifetime manufacturers warranties,
not pro-rated?

Professional Installation?
Do they "collapse" window frames and "block frame" doors?
Or do they follow strict industry guidelines set forth by
"AAMA"
(American Architectural Manufacturers Association)
.
Do You understand the different installation methods? Will they
respect your home and perform a clean job?

Local Office and Showroom?
Can you visit their place of business? Or do they operate out
of the back of some pick-up truck with an "800" phone number?
Do you have to make an appointment just to see their windows?

Service After the Sale?
How long have they been in business?
Under the same window company
name? Will they be there 5, 10, 15
years from now? Do they maintain
an office with open hours 5 days a
week?

Other Important Questions to ask:
  1. How many years have they been in business under the same name?
Are they a local company or are they from out of our area?

  2. Do they have a local office or showroom open Monday thru Friday?

  3. Where is their showroom located?

  4. Do they offer you local customer referrals?

  5. What national brand of vinyl product do they sell and what is their
    warranty?

  6. Have they shown you their State Contractor License? Is it active?
Have they shown you proof of workers compensation and liability insurance?

  7. Have you checked their contractors license number on the web at
www.cslb.ca.gov? or Better Business Bureau at www.BBBGoldenGate.org?

  8. Do they employ "commission based sales people"?

  9. Do they have a local service department to take care of your needs
    after the sale?

  10. Do they follow "AAMA" (American Architectural Manufacturers
    Association)
strict installation guidelines? What method of installation
will they use on replacing your windows and more importantly,
    your patio doors?

  11. Do you feel comfortable doing business with them?
We realize that window and replacement
is a big decision and investment.
